Body-safe materials explained

Not all intimate products are created equal — and the material matters more than you might think.

Medical-Grade Silicone — The gold standard. Non-porous, hypoallergenic, easy to clean, and incredibly body-safe. If a product says "silicone," make sure it's medical-grade — not a silicone blend.

Borosilicate Glass — The same glass used in lab equipment. It's non-porous, temperature-responsive (warm it up or cool it down), and virtually unbreakable.

Stainless Steel — Weighty, smooth, and completely body-safe. Also temperature-responsive and easy to sterilize.

ABS Plastic — Hard, non-porous, and commonly used in bullet vibrators and external toys. Safe and easy to clean.

What to avoid: TPE/TPR blends (porous, can harbour bacteria), jelly rubber (contains phthalates), and anything with a strong chemical smell. If a product doesn't clearly state its material, that's a red flag.
